ARJ1001 - Adult Dragon With Baby

Adult dragon with baby in a network of split tails and paws, this green and brown pierced carving is almost beyond beauty. Late 19th century or early 20th, it may have been for a scholar's table and even served as a brush or pen rest. 2 5/8 inches long by 2 1/8 inches wide by 7/8 inches depth at its deepest, this carving has the feeling of enduring monumentality. ARJ1002 - Impressive Jade Bat on Ram

Fine and translucent light sea -green hard Xinjiang Nephrite. Jade highlights this complex ream with sacred "fungus of immortality" that was made in the shape of a long-life-symbolizing bat (which sits atop the ram's hindquarters). Superbly carved and smoothly finished, it is mid-20th century. Perfect condition, 1-78" long x 1" tall, it suspends nicely at top center with a dark brown silk cord.
